Biolin Scientific KSV NIMA Surface Potential Sensor

The Surface Potential Sensor measures changes in the electrochemical potential of Langmuir films, to provide information on molecular orientation, dissociation and other molecular interactions

The KSV NIMA Surface Potential Sensor measures changes in electrochemical potential of monolayers and thin films created with Langmuir and Langmuir-Blodgett.
The sum of the film dipole changes gives you information about molecular orientation, dissociation and other molecular interactions, simply more knowledge from the same experiment.

  • Determination of molecular orientation
  • Measurement of the effective dipole moment of the molecular film
  • Characterization and analysis of changes in electronic structure
  • Follow complexation, dissociation, adsorption etc.
  • Adding the information from a SPOT to the data in the classical pressure-area isotherm gives you two individual measurements of the same process, which provides greater opportunity to interpret and verify responses.
  • Combination technique that provides double information from the same analysis
  • The method is non-contact and does not affect the film in any way.
  • Data is plotted using the same software on the same graph as surface pressure.

Flexibility

The SPOT comes factory calibrated, compatible with most KSV NIMA L & LB troughs, and is easily installed with Plug & Play.
