Confocal

Confocal microscopes are fluorescence microscopes that are based on a so-called pin-hole to eliminate light that is out of focus. We have two types of confocal systems; point scanning (point scanning confocal, laser scanning confocal, LSCM, LCM) and field scanning (spinning disk) from Nikon Instruments, CrEST Optics and Yokogawa. These systems are most often used in biomedical research, but there are also some applications in materials research.
