Nikon Eclipse Ti2

Eclipse Ti2 is Nikon’s new flagship is the leading platform for advanced research microscopes. It is a highly flexible platform for live cell microscopy that has already been awarded the iF Gold Award design prize.

The Nikon Ti2 is the leading platform for advanced research microscopes. It offers a class-leading 25mm field of view that revolutionizes what is possible to see. With this unique field of view, the Ti2 maximizes the sensor area of large CMOS cameras without compromise, and significantly increases data throughput. Nikon Ti2 is an exceptionally stable and reliable platform designed to meet the demands of super-resolution imaging while its unique hardware enhances even the most challenging high-speed imaging applications.

Larger field of view

With its revolutionary 25 mm camera field of view, it provides twice the image area of its competitors. Microscope cameras with full-format sensors (36 x 24 mm), such as the Nikon Ri2/Qi2, can be used to their full potential and provide very fast image acquisition. This is of great benefit to a variety of research applications where the requirements for fast processing and high throughput are increasing.

More even lighting

Eclipse Ti2 has a very bright LED lighting that with its “fly-eye” design ensures a very even lighting over the entire image surface. This is particularly important when stitching large images together in light fields or DIC, for example. Also for fluorescence, UV to NIR, a large field of view and very even illumination is offered by a newly developed epi-fluorescence illuminator with built-in quartz “fly-eye” lens and new, larger fluorescence filters.

Perfect focus

A very important parameter when choosing an inverted research microscope is the built-in stability and the ability of the microscope to maintain focus over time. The motorized Ti2-E model is designed to provide maximum stability and can be equipped with PFS (Perfect Focus System) that ensures focus over, for example, long time lapse experiments. The built-in focusing motor is now located very close to the lens turret to minimize vibration and the detector part of the PFS autofocusing has been placed separately from the lens turret to minimize mechanical stress. All in all, measures that minimize drift and make Ti2-E perfect for single-molecule and super resolution use.

Ergonomic and easy to use regardless of technology

Whether you choose the manual Ti2-U or the motorized Ti2-E, the microscopes are easy to use with their ergonomically accessible buttons and knobs. All motorized parts of the Ti2-E can be controlled directly from the microscope or from the PC and the NIS Elements software. Observation methods The Ti2 can be equipped with a wide range of different observation methods. For example, the 7-position condenser allows easy switching between brightfield, phase contrast and DIC.

  • Light fields
  • Phase contrast
  • Nikon Advanced Modulation Contrast (NAMC)
  • Differential Interference Contrast (DIC)
  • Fluorescence

In addition to these methods, Ti2-E can be extended with confocal, super resolution, TIRF, etc.

Image capture

Of course, it is possible to connect one or more cameras to Ti2. With its 2 built-in camera outputs, it is always possible to combine, for example, a black and white and a color camera. Or a confocal with a sensitive fluorescence camera. If you need multiple camera outputs, the Ti2-E offers both a bottom and rear output as well as a front side output as an option. All so as not to limit your ability to expand Ti2-E to suit your needs.
