Ultra-high resolution monochrome camera – Nikon Digital Sight 50M
Nikon’s new monochrome microscope camera is designed to optimize both field of view and resolution. In addition to providing a 25 mm field of view on Nikon’s Ti2 inverted microscope, the camera has 2.5 times higher resolution than previous models. This makes it effective for screening large volumes of samples at low magnification without missing small structures.
High-resolution images even at low magnifications
The DS-50M has a resolution of 60 megapixels (9552 x 6336 pixels), and with 3.76 µm pixel size, it is an optimal camera for detecting fine structures with fluorescence even at low magnifications. The effective field of view with a 2X objective is 7 mm which means that a well in a 96-hole plate can be accommodated in a single image.
Sensitivity to weak fluorescence
The camera has a QE of 85% and low read noise (6 e-) with sufficient sensitivity to be used also in weaker fluorescence. The high sensitivity and 14-bit dynamic range make it an excellent tool for fluorescence image analysis when both sensitivity and high throughput are important.
Frame rate for fast events
The DS-50M can reach frame rates of up to 6 frames per second in full resolution. If faster frame rates are needed, this can be achieved by binning and by reducing the dynamic range. For example, a framerate of 225 frames per second in 8-bit can be achieved with 3 x 3 binning and an ROI of 640 x 480 pixels.
Control with NIS elements
The camera is connected via USB3.2 to a computer and controlled by the NIS-Elements software.
